Marlene and Mark ( M&M Brothers), two enthusiastic germans! decided to make a free and open invitation to attempt The Broken (1141m) in Harz National Park. The highest mountain in the north of Germany.
This was my very first try to this mountain.
The date choose was December 21, 2019.
The route starts in Torfhaus and from there will be 8,5 km to the summit (17km in total round trip). We were in a group of 12 students.
According to google maps, it should be around 2,1hours. However like Was our first time there, we don't have to much pressure to make a record, just enjoy it and return with daylight using the same path.
During walking, we saw a lot of dead trees. This according to Mark (our specialist), was due to a small bark beetle and of course, relate to climate change too.
